North Hollywood, CA – Authorities have identified one of the two pedestrians killed in a crash involving a suspected DUI driver on Colfax Avenue in North Hollywood early Sunday morning, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The male pedestrian was identified by the Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner as 35-year-old Nefi Lopez Gutierrez. The authorities said Nefi Gutierez sustained multiple blunt-force traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities reported that a gray Acura driven by Vidal Cruz Jr. was traveling northbound on Colfax Avenue at a high rate of speed when it struck a man and a woman who had just exited a parked white Toyota Camry. The Acura then collided with the Camry, continued into a private driveway, and struck several unoccupied parked vehicles.
Gutierrez was pronounced dead at the scene. The female pedestrian was transported to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The three occupants inside the Camry suffered minor injuries. The name of the female victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

Authorities reported that a gray Acura driven by Vidal Cruz Jr. was traveling northbound on Colfax Avenue at a high rate of speed when it struck a man in his 30s and a woman in her 50s who had just exited a parked white Toyota Camry. The Acura also crashed into the Camry and continued into a private driveway, and struck several unoccupied parked vehicles.
Three people were still inside the Camry at the time of the crash.
The male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The female pedestrian was transported to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The three occupants inside the Camry suffered minor injuries. The names of the two deceased pedestrians have not been released pending next of kin notification.
Cruz, who was the sole occupant of the Acura, was arrested after investigators determined that he was driving at an unsafe speed and under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, provided medical assistance, and transported the injured to a nearby hospital.
Cruz was later booked on suspicion of two counts of murder at the Van Nuys Jail, with bail set at $4 million.
The incident remains under investigation.
