Escondido, CA – The authorities have released the identities of two people who were killed following a two-vehicle crash on West Valley Parkway in Escondido on Tuesday afternoon, according to authorities.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the deceased victims as 80-year-old David A. Weatherford and 79-year-old Connie Weatherford, both from Escondido
The deadly crash occurred at approximately 12:54 p.m. on April 7, 2026, on West Valley Parkway at Arboles Place, and involved a white Kia hatchback and a black SUV.
The Escondido Police Department said a sedan driven by Connie Weatherford, with David Weatherford as a passenger, collided with another vehicle under circumstances that were not immediately disclosed.
David Weatherford was transported to Palomar Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 1:21 p.m. on April 7. Connie Weatherford sustained critical injuries and was also taken to the hospital, where she later died at 2:05 p.m. on April 8. No other injuries or arrests were reported.
Authorities determined that both victims died from multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the crash. The manner of death was ruled an accident.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and provided lifesaving measures before transporting both victims to the hospital.
The crash caused disruptions in the area as crews responded and conducted initial investigations.
The incident remains under investigation by the appropriate authorities.
