According to the investigators, a bicyclist was traveling westbound along the right side of Avenue 328 when, for unknown reasons, the rider drifted into the roadway

Visalia, CA – A bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle on Sunday evening in Visalia, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The incident took place at around 6:45 p.m. April 5, on Avenue 328.
According to the investigators, a bicyclist was traveling westbound along the right side of Avenue 328 when, for unknown reasons, the rider drifted into the roadway.
A Nissan SUV was also heading west and struck the bicyclist from behind. The impact of the crash ejected the rider from the bicycle.
CHP reported that the victim was not wearing a helmet and died following the accident. No identification details on the bicyclist were immediately available.
The driver of the involved SUV was not injured and stayed at the scene of the incident. The driver was not suspected to have been impaired at the time of the accident.
The California Highway Patrol officers continue to investigate to establish the cause of the collision and additional information is expected to be released.
