Authorities reported that a Dodge Ram pickup truck pulling a trailer was traveling west on Highway 190 when it t-boned a Porterville Area school bus that had been heading south on Westwood Street and was trying to make a left turn
Tulare County, CA – Two drivers were injured in a collision involving a school bus near Porterville in Tulare County on Thursday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck took place on Highway 190 at Westwood Street on Thursday, April 2.
Authorities reported that a Dodge Ram pickup truck pulling a trailer was traveling west on Highway 190 when it t-boned a Porterville Area school bus that had been heading south on Westwood Street and was trying to make a left turn.
CHP officers and emergency crews were dispatched to the area and they helped extricate the driver trapped in the truck. Crews used the Jaws of Life to pull out the trapped driver.
The crash left the two drivers with moderate injuries. It’s unclear whether they were transported to a hospital for further treatment.
There were no students aboard the bus at the time of the accident.
According to CHP, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs was not suspected to have played a role in the incident.
An investigation into the collision is currently ongoing.
