Bakersfield, CA – The pedestrian who was hit and killed by a vehicle in southeast Bakersfield last Saturday night has been identified as an 18-year-old man.
According to the Kern County Coroner’s Office, Nathaniel Antwan Jerome Carter, was killed in the accident that took place in the 1100 block of Pacheco Road near Olivia Street at around 9:31 p.m. March 21.
According to preliminary investigations, a vehicle was traveling west on Pacheco Road when it struck a pedestrian near the intersection.
When Bakersfield Police Department officers arrived at the scene, they located the pedestrian lying down in the roadway.
The victim, now identified as Carter, was declared deceased at the scene. Family members have set up a GoFundMe page to aid in Carter’s funeral arrangements.
According to BPD, speed and impairment did not appeared to have played a role in the collision. The involved motorist stayed at the scene after the crash.
