Long Beach, CA – A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital after colliding with an SUV early Sunday morning in Long Beach.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the accident was reported just after midnight on March 15 on Pacific Avenue near Pacific Coast Highway.

A woman was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer in the southbound lane of Pacific Avenue when she attempted to turn eastbound onto 16th Street and collided with a motorcyclist heading northbound on Pacific Avenue.

The motorcyclist was reportedly riding without headlights. The bike ended up pinned beneath a parked car along the street.

The rider was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. The patient is expected to be OK.

The driver of the SUV stopped and remained at the scene. She was not injured.

Authorities said speed and alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors.

Long Beach continues to see motorcycles overrepresented in its severe traffic data, a trend that mirrors California’s broader 2025 finding that riders account for roughly 15% of all road fatalities. Local 2024–2026 reports from the Long Beach Police Department identify Anaheim Street, Ocean Boulevard, and Redondo Avenue as high-risk corridors.

Data from the city’s 2026 Safe Streets LB update indicates that unsafe speed is a primary factor in 36% of fatal motorcycle incidents, while impairment involved roughly 26% of riders in fatal crashes last year. To address these risks, Long Beach is utilizing its Vision Zero framework to target the “High Injury Network,” which consists of just a few major arterials where the majority of severe motorcycle collisions occur.
