Rancho Cucamonga, CA – One person was killed following a two-vehicle crash on Whittram Avenue in Fontana on Wednesday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Rancho Cucamonga crash occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. on March 11, 2026, along Whittram Avenue just west of Banana Avenue.
Preliminary reports indicate that a gray sedan was traveling eastbound on Whittram Avenue when one of its tires reportedly blew out. The vehicle then veered out of control, struck a pole, and ultimately crashed into the front of a recreational vehicle (RV).
The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin. No other injuries were immediately reported, and officials did not announce any arrests in connection with the collision.
Investigators indicated that speed may have been a contributing factor in the fatal crash, though the exact cause remains under investigation.
Emergency responders, including California Highway Patrol officers, San Bernardino County Fire personnel, and paramedics, arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the report of the collision. The coroner’s office was later called to the location.
The crash blocked the right lane of Whittram Avenue and caused traffic disruptions in the area as authorities worked to investigate the scene and clear the wreckage.
