DeSoto County, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into a crash that left a woman dead and a man arrested in DeSoto County on Tuesday afternoon .
The wreck took place in the area of CR-769 (Kings Highway) and County Road 761 on Tuesday, March 10.
A preliminary investigation found that a 67-year-old woman driving an SUV made a turn at the intersection, in front of a Dodge Ram heading north on CR 769. The Dodge crashed into the driver’s side of the SUV.
The FHP arrived at the scene shortly after and the driver of the SUV was confirmed dead at the scene. She was only identified as a 67-year-old woman from Port Charlotte.
The other driver, identified as Marlon Contreras-Galindo, of Sarasota, was arrested for driving without a license. He was booked into the DeSoto County Jail.
No additional information on the crash was immediately released. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the accident and further details are expected to be released once the investigation is concluded.
