Martin County, TX – A man from Lubbock was killed in a two-vehicle collision that took place in Martin County on Monday morning.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, authorities received a call about the incident on State Highway 349 on Monday, March 9.
The report indicates that a 2010 Cadillac SRX was traveling southbound on SH 349 when it drifted onto the rumble strips on the shoulder of the roadway. The Cadillac driver then overcorrected and moved into the northbound side, where it collided head-on with an oncoming 2010 Mercedes.
According to DPS, the operator of the Mercedeswas declared deceased at the scene. He was identified as Samuel Jones Lookadoo, 46, of Lubbock.
The driver of the Cadillac, whose identity wasn’t released, sustained minor injuries in the incident and was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Authorities did not specify whether DUI, speed, or distracted driving were factors in the collision.
At this time, the cause of the deadly incident is under investigation by the DPS.
