Surprise, AZ – One person was injured after two vehicles collided at an intersection in the West Valley on Monday morning, according to DPS.
The crash occurred just before 10 a.m. near Grand Avenue and Greenway Road.
Police reported that the collision involved a pickup truck and a semi-truck. Following the impact, the semi overturned onto its side, blocking all northwest-bound lanes of Grand Avenue. The pickup sustained significant front-end damage, including to the hood and grille.
One individual was transported to a hospital as a precaution and is expected to recover. No other injuries were reported, and no arrests have been announced.
The cause of the Surprise crash remains under investigation as officers work to determine what led up to the collision.
Surprise police responded to the scene with assistance from El Mirage officers to manage traffic and conduct the investigation.
The northwest-bound lanes of Grand Avenue were closed for nearly three hours while crews cleared the overturned semi and debris from the roadway. The intersection was reopened shortly before 1 p.m.
The incident remains under investigation.
