Victorville, CA – A 40-year-old man was killed after being struck by multiple vehicles on US Highway 395 early Thursday morning, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

The fatal Victorville crash occurred at approximately 2:10 a.m. on February 26, 2026, on US Highway 395 south of Eucalyptus Street.

Preliminary investigation findings indicate that pedestrian Joseph Scott Dragon, a resident of San Bernardino, was walking in the lanes of northbound traffic on US Highway 395, south of Sycamore Street. A white Ford pickup truck traveling northbound toward Sycamore Street struck Dragon. Authorities reported that several other vehicles subsequently collided with the pedestrian following the initial impact.

Dragon sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford pickup remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No arrests have been reported in connection with the multi-vehicle collision.

The cause of the Victorville crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances that led to the pedestrian entering the roadway.

Deputies from the Victorville Police Station responded to the scene, along with personnel from the Victorville Fire Department and American Medical Response. Members of the Major Accident Investigation Team later arrived and assumed control of the investigation.

US Highway 395 between Sycamore Street and Eucalyptus Street was closed for approximately five hours while crews investigated and processed the scene, causing significant traffic disruptions in the area.

The incident remains under active investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
