Fresno, CA – A bicyclist was injured in a collision with a vehicle in West Central Fresno on Wednesday night.
According to a report by the Fresno Police Department, the wreck happened on Olive Avenue and Parkway Drive near Highway 99 on Wednesday, February 25.
Preliminary reports indicate that the bicyclist was riding eastbound on Olive Avenue when they entered the onramp to southbound Highway 99 and was hit by a vehicle that was merging onto the highway.
Fresno police and emergency personnel were called to the scene and they found the bicyclist with major injuries.
Medics performed life-saving measures on the rider, before rushing them to a hospital for further treatment. There was no update on the condition of the injured rider.
The driver of the involved vehicle was at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. The identities of the bicyclist and the driver were not revealed.
Authorities have not specified whether impairment or speed factored in the crash. The Fresno Police Department is actively working to ascertain the cause of the collision.
