Stockton, CA — One man was killed and three others, including a minor, were injured Sunday night following a single-vehicle crash in Stockton, police said.
Officers responded shortly after 9 p.m. December 11 to the area of Navy Drive and Fresno Avenue, where they found a car involved in a collision.
The driver of the vehicle was deceased at the scene.
Three additional occupants — an adult man, an adult woman, and a child — were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the crash, both directions of Navy Drive were closed between South Fresno Avenue and Tillie Lewis Drive.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
In 2023, Stockton reported 1,913 victims killed or injured in fatal and injury crashes, ranking 3rd out of 15 similarly sized California cities in OTS rankings. This includes various crash types with high counts and mid-range peer rankings. Alcohol-involved crashes accounted for 132 victims; drivers under 21 with drinking involvement were 9, and ages 21–34 accounted for 73. Motorcycle-involved injuries numbered 61. Stockton had 390 speed-related fatal/injury crashes (2nd worst in its group), 184 nighttime crashes (9 pm–2:59 am), and 289 hit-and-run incidents. Law enforcement recorded 266 DUI arrests.
For comparison, 2022 OTS data showed 2,096 killed and injured victims, with 431 speed-related, 172 nighttime, and 299 hit-and-run collisions, and 317 DUI arrests — often ranking Stockton among the highest for these serious crash categories.
