Oakland, CA – Authorities are investigating an incident where a fire truck hit and injured a homeless man outside a firehouse in East Oakland on Monday evening.

According to the authorities, the incident took place at around 6:24 p.m. February 16, outside Fire Station 20 located at 1401 98th Avenue.

Initial reports indicate that the man may have been sleeping outside when a fire truck responding to a fire incident struck him in the driveway.

The driver reportely activated the emergency lights and sirens on the department’s crew cab pickup truck and did not see the victim, who had been laying against a rollup garage door outside the station.

Firefighters immediately performed first aid on the victim, who sustained critical injuries in the collision.

The victim was then rushed to a hospital and was said to be in stable condition. Authorities said the victim is a man in his 30s who is believed to be homeless.
