Oakland, CA – At least one person was hospitalized after a multi-vehicle collision that happened Wednesday afternoon in Oakland.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash took place around 3:40 p.m., February 4, on the northbound Interstate 880 at the High Street off-ramp.
Six vehicles, including a white Ford truck, a black Nissan Altima, a red Lexus, and a gray Nissan Rogue, were involved in the accident. The Ford overturned and landed back on its wheels. The driver's side wheel detached in the crash and traveled across into the southbound side where a car hauler was traveling. The tire hit one of the cars that was being hauled.
A witness said the Nissan was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash.
The driver of the Ford was transported to Highland Hospital with unknown injuries.
Multiple traffic lanes were shut down following the collision. All lanes were back open around 4:38 p.m.
CHP officers are investigating to determine the cause of the crash.
