Phoenix, AZ – Authorities are investigating an incident where a vehicle hit and killed a pedestrian in Central Phoenix on Saturday night, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
At about 11 p.m. February 14, police were called to the scene of a collision on 16th Street and Thomas Road.
Upon arrival at the scene, authorities found a severely injured man. Preliminary investigations reveal that the victim had been hit by a vehicle in the area.
The victim was transported by medics to a hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The victim has since been identified as Manuel Porfido Madril, 74.
The involved driver stayed at the scene of the crash and was cooperative with the investigators.
Police reported that impairment did not play any role in the accident. The crash remained under investigation by the Phoenix Police Department.
