Madera, CA – A woman who was among three pedestrians struck and injured by a vehicle at an intersection in Madera on Saturday afternoon has succumbed to her injuries.

According to the Madera Police Department, the collision took place at North Granada Drive and West Cleveland Avenue at about 2:35 p.m. on Saturday, February 7.

According to preliminary reports, a Ford pickup truck was making a southbound turn from West Cleveland Avenue onto North Granada Drive when it struck three pedestrians. The pedestrians were reportedly walking in a crosswalk when they were hit by the Ford.

Madera police along with fire crews and medical personnel responded to the scene shortly after and attended to the involved parties.

The three victims, a 72-year-old woman and two girls aged 9 and 10, were transported to a hospital for treatment. The girls were treated and released but the woman succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene and was not suspected to have been impaired. The identities of the driver and the involved pedestrians are yet to be released.

The Madera Police Department is investigating the accident and anyone with additional information regarding the crash is asked to call the department at 559-679-4200.
