At around 1:14 a.m. February 7, authorities responded to reports of a collision in the eastbound lanes of the freeway at Bundy Drive in the Sawtelle area

West Los Angeles, CA – Investigations are underway into a crash that claimed the life of one person on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway in West Los Angeles early Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At around 1:14 a.m. February 7, authorities responded to reports of a collision in the eastbound lanes of the freeway at Bundy Drive in the Sawtelle area.
Investigations reveal that at least two vehicles were involved in the wreck but the manner in which the vehicles collided was not immediately determined.
The California Highway Patrol officers and the Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel immediately responded to the scene and attended to those involved.
One person was declared deceased at the scene by the paramedics. He was later identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office as Alexander St. John, 28, but his city of residence was not available.
It’s unclear whether there were additional injuries in the incident.
At 1:25 a.m., CHP issued a Sigalert closing all eastbound lanes of the Santa Monica Freeway. The lanes were reopened at 4:30 a.m.
No further details on the crash have been released. The California Highway Patrol is looking into the circumstances of the crash.
