Fresno, CA – An investigation is underway into an incident where a truck backing up at a home in southwest Fresno struck and injured a child on Thursday afternoon.
Shortly before 3 p.m. January 29, authorities responded to a call of a crash that happened in the backyard of a home located at Stanislaus and Plumas streets.
According to Fresno police, a construction worker was reversing when the construction truck hit a 3-year-old child.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and evaluated the injured child. After evaluation, the child was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center with injuries including head injuries and a broken arm.
Authorities reported that the child was later transferred to Valley Children’s Hospital for further treatment.
The involved driver was at the scene scene when authorities arrived and was cooperative with the investigators. Police did not specify whether impairment, distracted driving, or speed played any role in the accident.
The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
