Nevada City, CA – A driver died in an accident where a vehicle drifted off Highway 49 and overturned into a creek in Nevada City on Wednesday evening.
According to California Highway Patrol, the collision took place near the Broad Street off-ramp shortly after 4:30 p.m. January 14.
The report reveals that a pickup truck driver traveling south on the highway lost control at a curve near the Broad Street overcrossing and drifted across the northbound lanes. The vehicle went off the overcrossing and rolled over into Deer Creek.
The CHP, Grass Valley Police Department, and fire crews responded to the scene a few minutes later. The driver was pulled out of the wrecked truck by the firefighters.
Medics transported the driver to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, where he was declared decased. The driver’s identity was not immediately released.
Authorities said the driver was the sole occupant of the truck and no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
