San Andreas, CA – The authorities have identified an Altaville woman Killed in a head-on collision in San Andreas, Calaveras County on Wednesday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Edna M. Street, 55, died when a vehicle she was driving on Highway 49 collided with another vehicle shortly after 6 p.m. December 17.
Street was driving a 2019 Nissan Rogue SUV northbound on Highway 49 when she drifted into the southbound side just south of Union Mine Road. David A. Swanson, 67, of Carson City, NV, was southbound in a 2010 Ford F-150 pickup truck and swerved to avoid the Nissan.
Swanson was unable to avoid the oncoming vehicle and they collided head-on.
According to California Highway Patrol, the SUV sustained major damage and Street was declared deceased at the scene. Swanson had major injuries and was flown to a Valley trauma center.
Alcohol and drugs were not believed to have played a role in the accident. No additional details were immediately available.
The crash remained under investigation by the CHP.
