Fairwood, WA – The woman who was hit and killed by a Mead School District bus while trying to walk across an intersection in Fairwood on Monday evening has been identified as Eva Allen, 20, according to the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The crash took place shortly after 5 p.m. January 5, at West Hastings Road and West Bellwood Drive.
Investigations into the crash reveal that Allen was walking west across West Hastings Road when she was struck by the bus. The accident took place nearly a block west of Mead High School.
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Department and fire crews responded to the scene of the accident and rendered aid to the involved persons. Allen was taken to a hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
The driver of the bus was not injured and remained at the site of the crash. Authorities said that there were no students aboard the bus at the time of the collision.
Speed and impairment were not suspected to be factors in the incident. The Spokane County Sheriff’s Department is working to determine the cause of the accident.
