Manteca, CA – Authorities are investigating a major big rig collision that led to one person’s death on Highway 99 in the Manteca area on Friday.
The California Highway Patrol reported that two vehicles were involved in the crash that happened near Lathrop Road on Friday, January 2.
According to the report, a big rig collided with a pickup truck towing a trailer in the northbound lanes of Highway 99. The circumstances under which the vehicles collided were not immediately established.
One person in the pickup truck was rushed to a hospital, where they were pronounced deceased. Authorities are yet to identify the victim killed in the crash.
There was no update on the condition of other parties involved in the accident.
The crash caused the closure of all northbound lanes of Highway 99 as authorities investigated the incident. The roadway was reopened shortly after 4 p.m.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

Some of the dangerous roads in Manteca have been identified as Highway 120 and Highway 99. The statistics by OTS highlights the need for more enforcements to caution motorists and keep the roads safer.
