San Bernardino County, CA – A man was killed in a multi-vehicle collision on the northbound 15 Freeway at the base of the Cajon Pass Tuesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. on December 4, just north of Kenwood Avenue.
CHP officials reported that Jesse Navarro, a 38-year-old Fontana resident, was driving a Ram 1500 pickup in the No. 4 lane at an undetermined speed when his vehicle collided with the rear of a box truck.
The impact caused the pickup to veer out of control and strike the rear of a tractor-trailer combination.
Navarro, the sole occupant of the Ram 1500, was transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Other drivers involved in the crash sustained minor injuries.
No arrests have been reported. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and authorities have not disclosed why Navarro’s pickup collided with the box truck.
Emergency crews, including CHP and local first responders, arrived promptly to provide medical care, clear the roadway, and manage traffic.
The collision caused temporary slowdowns in the northbound lanes of I-15 near Cajon Pass during the response and investigation.
The incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
