Tulare County, CA. – A bicyclist died after colliding with a milk tanker early Monday morning in Tulare County, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The accident transpired around 4:40 a.m. on Drive 60 near Avenue 328 north of Goshen.

According to investigators, the bicyclist was riding northbound on the centerline of Drive 60 when a milk tanker approached them from behind.

The driver veered to the right and onto a dirt shoulder to avoid hitting the rider.

When the truck was passing, the cyclist veered to the right and collided with the left rear fender of the tanker.

The rider was ejected, sustaining fatal injuries.

The driver of the truck was not hurt.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
