5-Year-Old Girl Hit, Severely Injured by DUI Driver on Laning Road in San Diego

Woman Arrested for Hitting, Injuring Girl on Scooter in San Diego’s Midway Neighborhood

San Diego, CA. – A 5-year-old girl is fighting for her life after she was hit by a DUI suspect Saturday afternoon in San Diego’s Midway neighborhood.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred around 4:39 p.m. in the 2500 block of Laning Road.

A 21-year-old woman had reportedly been drinking before she drove a 2018 BMW 335i into a park.

The driver entered the pedestrian pathway, hit a steel bench, then struck a 5-year-old girl riding a scooter before the car hit a tree.

The girl was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, including a head injury.

SDPD officers arrested the driver on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

An investigation is ongoing.
