Bakersfield, CA. – Authorities identified Le’anna Janee Lonnie Sterling as the 1-month-old baby who died in a two-vehicle collision Sunday in central Bakersfield.
The accident took place around 7:32 p.m. at 8th and T streets.
A sedan and a pickup truck were involved in the collision.
Le’anna was a passenger in the sedan and was taken to Kern Medical for treatment, then to Valley Children’s Hospital, where she later died the following morning.
Both drivers stopped and cooperated with investigators.
The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating the incident.

Bakersfield, CA – The Bakersfield Police Department has confirmed that the one-month-old baby who was severely injured after two vehicles collided at a Bakersfield intersection on Sunday night has died.
The incident occurred at about 7:32 p.m. on August 24, 2025, at 8th Street and T Street, and involved a sedan and a pickup truck.
The baby was seriously injured and was taken to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera. The baby was pronounced dead at the hospital on Monday, August 25.
