Oakland, CA. – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a vehicle in east Oakland on Sunday night, according to the Oakland Police Department.

The wreck took place on Hegenberger Road and Hamilton Street at about 10:49 p.m. August 31.

Police reported that Joseph White II, 51, of Oakland, was riding a motorcycle southbound on Hegenberger Road when he failed to stop for a red light at the intersection of Hamilton Street.

White collided with the passenger side of a Volkswagen Jetta that was traveling west on Hamilton Street on a green light.

According to OPD, White was killed in the accident.

A passenger in the Jetta was also hurt in the crash.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Oakland Police Department.
