According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred around 3:49 p.m. in the 6400 block of Soledad Mountain Road at Caminito Blythefield.

San Diego, CA. – A 57-year-old man who is suspected of riding an electric moped under the influence was hit and severely injured by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon at an intersection in San Diego’s La Jolla neighborhood.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred around 3:49 p.m. in the 6400 block of Soledad Mountain Road at Caminito Blythefield.
Authorities said the man was driving an electric moped south when he violated the right of way for the 46-year-old driver of a Nissan Altima heading north at the intersection.
The moped rider was hit by the car, sustaining life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Altima was not injured.
Investigators said the man on the moped was driving under the influence of alcohol.
SDPD is investigating the collision.
