Antioch, CA. – 76-year-old Ricardo Escobar died after he was struck by two vehicles last week on a highway in Antioch, the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office reported.
The accident occurred around 7:35 p.m. on Highway 4 near the Somersville Road off-ramp.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Escobar entered the highway lanes from the right shoulder and made it to the far left lane, where an oncoming Ford van hit him.
Escobar was thrown down into the far left lane, where a Subaru Forester driving directly behind the van also struck the pedestrian.
Paramedics responded and pronounced Escobar dead at the scene. His city of residence was unknown.
An investigation is ongoing.

Antioch, CA. – A pedestrian died after being struck by at least one vehicle Wednesday evening on a highway in Antioch, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The incident occurred around 7:38 p.m. on eastbound Highway 4, just west of the Somersville Road on-ramp.
A male pedestrian was reportedly crossing the highway lanes when he was hit by at least one car.
The victim died from injuries sustained in the accident.
The Contra Costa County coroner responded to the scene.
Eastbound Highway 4 just west of Somersville Road was closed until around 9:40 p.m. following the collision.
