According to the CHP, a Ford Mustang was traveling south on Highway 49 when it drifted off the right side of the roadway

Amador County, CA. – One person was killed in a head-on collision in Amador County on Thursday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck took place on Highway 49 near Highway 16 at about 1 p.m. August 7.
According to the CHP, a Ford Mustang was traveling south on Highway 49 when it drifted off the right side of the roadway.
The driver then overcorrected and ended up in the northbound lane, where it collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota RAV4.
The driver of the Toyota, a 79-year-old Jackson woman, was killed in the accident.
The driver of the Ford was flown to Sutter Roseville Hospital with unspecified injuries.
Both directions of Highway 49 were shut down as authorities investigated the incident.
The CHP is handling the investigation.
