Tucson, AZ. – 60-year-old Francisco Javier De La Ree Cajigas died from injuries he suffered about a week after he was involved in a car crash at an intersection in Tucson.
According to the Tucson Police Department, the wreck occurred on April 17 at East Broadway Boulevard and East Prudence Road.
Authorities said Cajigas died Thursday, April 24, while receiving treatment at a hospital.
The crash involved a blue 2016 Nissan Versa and a white 2021 Dodge Challenger.
According to investigators, Cajigas was driving the Nissan east in the left turn lane on Broadway Boulevard when he tried to make a left turn onto northbound Prudence Road but collided with the Dodge heading west on Broadway.
Cajigas was taken to the hospital with major injuries.
The female driver of the Dodge was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Police said failure to yield while making a left turn by the deceased was a major contributing factor to the accident.
