Avondale, AZ – A motorcyclist was critically injured in a Tuesday afternoon traffic collision on 10 Freeway in Avondale.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety responded to the wreck just before 1 p.m. on the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 near Avondale Boulevard.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a trooper attempted to pull the motorcyclist over for speeding, but the driver fled instead.
The police did not pursue the rider due to the traffic conditions. Moments later, the motorcyclist crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer.
The rider was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The identity of the victim was not immediately disclosed.
