San Diego, CA – The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified as driver killed in a head-on traffic collision on Highway 76 in San Diego two weeks ago as 58-year-old Donna Okamoto of Santa Ana.

The accident happened on State Route 76 at Lilac Road at around 2:30 a.m. on March 16, according to the CHP.

Reports revealed that Okamoto was heading west in a Mitsubishi SUV on the highway when an eastbound motorist tried to pass another vehicle directly in Okamoto’s path, causing a head-on crash.

The paramedics took Okamoto to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where she was pronounced dead.

No additional information about the collision was available.

An investigation is underway.
