San Diego, CA. – A 22-year-old man is nursing serious injuries after he was hit by a San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) bus in University City, the San Diego Police Department reported.

The incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on Palmilla Drive and Arriba Street.

Police said the man was walking in a marked crosswalk on Palmilla Drive when a 51-year-old man driving an MTS bus south on Palmilla Drive made a left turn onto Arriba Street on a circular green light and hit the pedestrian.

The man sustained an orbital fracture, a spinal fracture, and a lung contusion. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Alcohol was not considered a contributing factor.

SDPD’s Traffic Division is investigating the accident.
