Irvine, CA. – Five people, including two children, were hospitalized after a DUI accident involving a wrong-way driver that took place early Sunday morning near Irvine.
According to authorities, the collision occurred around midnight on the 73 Toll Road near Campus Drive.
Police said the driver of a Toyota Camry hit a Lincoln MKZ that was heading south on the toll road.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and transported two young children and their mother to the hospital with significant injuries. The driver and passenger of the Lincoln were also hospitalized.
The report did not mention which car the children and their mother occupied.
The wrong-way driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
