Moss Landing, CA – One person was killed, and three others were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 1 in Moss Landing Saturday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred on State Route 1, just north of Springfield Road near mile marker 99.2 at approximately 10:19 p.m. on May 2, 2026.
Preliminary reports indicate the crash involved three vehicles, including a Ford pickup truck and a Honda. Investigators said a 2014 GMC Sierra pickup was traveling southbound on SR-1 when it sideswiped a Ford pickup truck that was traveling in the opposite lane. The GMC then continued traveling in the northbound lane and struck a Honda Accord head-on.
Three male adults who were in the Honda at the time of the crash suffered major injuries. The GMC driver, also a man, sustained minor injuries.
Officials later confirmed that one person died from the injuries suffered in the wreck.
Emergency responders declared a Level 1 mass casualty incident and requested additional resources to the scene. Crews worked to extricate trapped occupants and provide medical aid to the injured.
The crash resulted in the closure of all lanes of Highway 1 in the area, with authorities implementing a hard closure and rerouting traffic while the scene was cleared and investigated.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal collision.
