Investigations revealed that Allen York, 62, was driving westbound on the Mount Baker Highway when he drifted into the eastbound lanes, for unknown reasons, and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.

Welcome, WA – A man from Ferndale was killed in a collision that occurred on the Mount Baker Highway near Welcome on Saturday morning.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident took place on the eastbound side of the highway near Bell Creek Road on Saturday, May 16.
Investigations revealed that Allen York, 62, was driving westbound on the Mount Baker Highway when he drifted into the eastbound lanes, for unknown reasons, and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.
According to the Washington State Patrol, York was declared dead at the scene of the collision.
The driver of the second vehicle, identified as a 27-year-old man from Maple Falls, was taken to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries.
According to investigators, alcohol or drugs were not believed to have played any role in the accident.
No additional information on the incident were immediately available. The Washington State Patrol is investigating to ascertain the cause of the collision.
