James Emerson, 75, of Rochester, died following the accident that took place on Old Highway 99 near Tilley Road at about 9 a.m. on May 18.

Thurston County, CA – The Thurston County Coroner’s Office has identifed the man who was killed in a collision with a dump truck in Thurston County on Monday morning.
James Emerson, 75, of Rochester, died following the accident that took place on Old Highway 99 near Tilley Road at about 9 a.m. on May 18.
Preliminary reports by the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office indicate that Emerson was driving a car that was involved in a crash with a dump truck.
According to the report, the car was in the truck’s lane but the exact cause of the accident was yet to be established. Both vehicles burst into flames after the accident.
The South Thurston Fire, Tumwater and West Thurston fire departments responded to the scene and assisted the involved drivers.
Authorities reported that Emerson was declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the dump truck was taken to a hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating to establish the exact circumstances of the collision.
