Huntington Beach, CA – A 65-year-old man was killed following a two-vehicle collision on Gothard Street in Huntington Beach on Wednesday evening, according to police.
The fatal crash occurred at about 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, near the intersection of Gothard Street and Lorge Circle.
Huntington Beach Police Department said a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck and a Toyota Sienna minivan were both traveling southbound on Gothard Street when, for reasons still under investigation, the pickup truck collided with the minivan. Authorities said the truck continued traveling southbound, crossed into oncoming lanes, and eventually crashed into a tree along the roadway.
Officers found the pickup truck driver unconscious inside the vehicle. The 65-year-old Huntington Beach resident was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the Toyota Sienna, identified as a 60-year-old man from Westminster, was not injured and remained at the scene cooperating with investigators.
Police said impairment did not appear to be a factor for the minivan driver. However, investigators are still working to determine whether impairment may have contributed to the pickup truck driver’s actions.
Huntington Beach police officers and paramedics responded to the scene to assist victims and investigate the collision. The investigation is being handled by the Huntington Beach Police Department’s Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team.
The crash caused traffic disruptions in the area while authorities conducted the on-scene investigation and cleared the wreckage.
The fatal Huntington Beach crash remains under investigation.
