Yucca Valley, CA – A motorcyclist was severely injured in a fiery collision with a sedan Saturday afternoon on Old Woman Springs Road near Yucca Valley.
According to California Highway Patrol logs, the incident occurred around 5:42 p.m., May 9, on Old Woman Springs Road, also known as State Route 247, near Alderman Road.
A Nissan sedan and a motorcycle were involved in a head-on crash under unclear circumstances.
The bike caught fire after the collision, and both vehicles were left blocking traffic lanes.
First responders found the rider on the right-hand shoulder, reportedly with a leg missing.
Paramedics transported the rider to the hospital for treatment of severe injuries.
The roadway was blocked in both directions. Traffic was being diverted into a nearby dirt road.
Authorities are investigating to determine what transpired leading to the accident.
