Woodland, CA – Authorities are searching for a driver who fled the scene after a crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian on Tuesday night in Woodland.
According to the California Highway Patrol, authorities received reports of the incident at about 11:24 p.m. January 13, on Interstate 5, just north of West Street.
When CHP arrived at the scene, they found a pedestrian lying in the center divider of northbound I-5. A preliminary investigation determined that the victim had been struck by a vehicle that left the scene afterwards.
The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene. The victim's name, age, and gender were not immediately revealed.
Authorities have not released any description of the suspect driver or vehicle involved involved in the hit-and-run. The California Highway Patrol is handling the investigation. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call CHP at 1-800-835-5247.
