Seattle, WAA 53-year-old woman from Seattle was killed and a 26-year-old Seattle man was hospitalized after a suspected DUI crash on Highway 509 in Seattle late Saturday night.

According to the Washington State Police, the mishap was reported at around 11:25 p.m. on February 22 on State Route 509 near 128th Street.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 26-year-old Seattle man was speeding on the highway when he rear-ended a second vehicle operated by a 58-year-old Seattle man.

The impact caused the second vehicle to struck a tree.

A woman in the second vehicle suffered severe injuries and was rushed to Harborview Medical Center, where she later died. The driver and a 18-year-old female in her vehicle were not injured.

 The suspected impaired driver, a 26-year-old Seattle man, was hospitalized with injuries and now faces multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, DUI, and eluding police.

Two 16-year-old passengers in his vehicle were not injured.

Drugs and alcohol were factors in the mishap.

The identity of the deceased was not immediately disclosed.

More details regarding the collision were not provided.

An investigation is ongoing.
