San Marcos, CA. – A 76-year-old woman died after being hit by a car in San Marcos on Friday night.

The fatal auto-pedestrian accident happened near the intersection of South Twin Oaks Valley Road and Shubin Lane at around 9:07 p.m., according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department’s Traffic Division.

A Toyota Camry was traveling south on Twin Oaks Valley Road when it hit the pedestrian.

The woman suffered serious injuries and was transported to Palomar Medical Center Trauma Unit where she died while receiving treatment.

The female driver of the Camry stayed at the scene of the accident and cooperated with the police.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
