Winton, CA – One person was killed in a pedestrian collision on Santa Fe Drive in Winton early Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 4:53 a.m. near Santa Fe Drive and Mercedes Avenue.
CHP logs indicate a Honda Civic struck a pedestrian under circumstances that remain unclear. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been released. Information regarding injuries to the driver or any possible arrests was not immediately available.
Authorities requested a tow truck for the vehicle after it sustained major front-end damage in the collision.
Emergency crews, including fire personnel and paramedics, responded to the scene shortly after the collision was reported. Authorities remained at the location for several hours while investigators processed evidence and cleared the roadway.
