According to CHP, around 8 p.m. on June 11, 2026, their officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2007 Mercedes-Benz for a traffic violation on Hopland Street near El Evado Road.

Victorville, CA – Two California Highway Patrol officers and two other people were injured in a two-vehicle collision that happened Thursday evening at a Victorville intersection shortly after a brief pursuit, authorities reported.
According to CHP, around 8 p.m. on June 11, 2026, their officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2007 Mercedes-Benz for a traffic violation on Hopland Street near El Evado Road.
The driver initially yielded but then sped away, prompting a brief pursuit.
The Mercedes was traveling south on Cobalt Road when it entered the intersection with Hook Boulevard and collided with a CHP patrol car heading westbound.
Authorities said at the time of the collision, the CHP officers were not actively pursuing the suspect vehicle. The scene of the crash is three miles from where the officers attempted a traffic stop.
The collision left the two CHP officers inside the patrol vehicle with major injuries. They were taken to the hospital and are expected to be OK.
The Mercedes was occupied by the driver, identified as 23-year-old Cantor Yahancy of Victorville, and one passenger. Both occupants were transported to the hospital with major injuries.
Yahancy was arrested and charged with DUI causing injury and felony evading a peace officer. Additional charges may be recommended as the investigation continues.
