San Jose, CA – The Santa Clara County Office of Medical Examiner identified the pedestrian who was hit and killed by a vehicle last week in San Jose as Fidel Guzman.
The San Jose resident was involved in the crash around 8:56 p.m. on July 14, 2026, while walking across a marked crosswalk on Capitol Expressway near Copperfield Drive.
Guzman was struck by a black 2018 Tesla sedan traveling east.
Emergency personnel pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
The driver of the car was interrogated at the scene before being taken to a local hospital together with two passengers. All three were expected to be OK.

San Jose, CA. – A pedestrian died in a collision that left three other people injured in San Jose on Tuesday night.
According to the San Jose Police Department, the accident happened around 9 p.m. in the area of Capitol Expressway and Copperfield Drive.
A man was driving a Tesla sedan eastbound on Capitol Expressway when he hit a man who was crossing Capitol Expressway.
The unidentified pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and two juveniles in the Tesla were later taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
