Trinity County, CA – Four people died in a head-on collision that also left two others with serious injuries Saturday evening near the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred around 6:50 p.m. on Highway 299 near Del Loma.

Investigators said a white Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling westbound when it crossed into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a red Chevrolet Impala occupied by five people.

Four occupants in the Impala died in the crash. The fifth occupant was hospitalized with major injuries.

The driver of the Cherokee was also hospitalized with serious injuries.

Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.

CHP is investigating the collision, and the Trinity County Sheriff's Office is investigating the deaths.

Trinity County, CA. – Three people were killed in a head-on collision in Trinity County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 6:47 p.m. on State Route 299 east of Del Loma.

A red sedan and a white SUV collided head-on in unclear circumstances.

CHP confirmed that three people died in the crash.

One person had to be extricated before being airlifted to the hospital for treatment.
