Tucson, AZ – Authorities have released the identity of a pedestrian who was hit and killed by a vehicle at a Tucson intersection on Monday evening.
Jake Angel Zabaleta, 40, was killed in the incident that took place at West Miracle Mile and Oracle Road just before 7 p.m. October 5.
According to the Tucson Police Department, Zabaleta was attempting to cross West Miracle Mile from the north side to the south when he was struck by a Buick SUV heading west. Initial reports show that Zabaleta was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the incident.
Zabaleta was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision.
The police reports indicate that the driver stayed at the scene and was not suspected to have been impaired.
The Tucson Police Department is investigating the incident and additional details are expected to be released.
