The deadly incident was reported shortly after 6:18 p.m. on November 27, on N. Walnut Grove Road and Dead Horse Island Road.
According to CHP Stockton, a GMC Yukon collided head-on with a Ford Mustang near the Sacramento County border. Details on what led up to the accident were not immediately released.
The man driving the Mustang was transported to a hospital, where he was later declared deceased. The other driver was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. The identities of the involved parties were not immediately released.
The roadway was shut down as emergency crews responded to the scene to help the crash victims. DUI was not suspected to have played a role in the incident, the CHP reported. The investigation is ongoing.
